Message from Steve
Black NJAFC President……..
Welcome to Newtown’s home ground, Alan Davidson Oval, and I
sincerely hope players, umpires, officials and families have an enjoyable
Gala/Grand Final Day experience.
The Sydney City Competition has gone from strength to strength
this year. There are more players, umpires, officials and volunteers than ever
before, as we promote and expand this great football code in the Sydney region.
Auskick continues to be a great nursery for our budding players and the U7s and
U9s Gala days will be on display today. The U10s Representative players will play
an exhibition match, East vs West. East is made up of Rep players from East
Sydney, Maroubra, Newtown and Moore Park. West is made up of players from
Western Suburbs, Glebe, Drummoyne and Concord. The U11s and the U12s will play
their respective Grand Finals. Also, the youth teams of the Sydney City Clubs
continue to successfully compete in the broader Sydney Harbour competition on
Sundays.
The eight Sydney City Clubs continue to play footy in the right
spirit and there is excellent cooperation between them. On behalf of the
Newtown Swans JAFC, I would like to thank the AFL and the other Sydney City
Clubs, Western Suburbs, East Sydney, Glebe, Maroubra, Drummoyne, Concord &
Moore Park for an enjoyable and prosperous year. To all the volunteers, from
Newtown and elsewhere, thank you for making this a great day. It is a showcase
for AFL in Sydney.
All the best to the players, umpires, officials & supporters
today; we hope you enjoy the ADO hospitality...... Cheers, Steve Black ps This Saturday BBQ BOB will be on fire. He has not one but two BBQs on the go...that means twice as many of his "best in the Association" hot dogs. Make sure you don't miss out.

TRIVIA NIGHT - A MAJOR FUNDRAISER FOR THE NEWTOWN CLUB
The Trivia Night held at the Portuguese Club at Marrickville on Saturday 31 July was a great success and raised nearly $4000.00 nett for the Newtown Club. It was also a fantastic social occasion for the parents at the Club. It was hosted by football great, Craig Davis, and with 110 people attending, numbers were slightly down on last year, but a good time was still had by all.
A special thanks go to the organiser of the event, Peter Newton, and to Kylie Stark and the Stark family. They put in a tremendous amount of work to make this a success for the Club.
Thanks also go to all the people who donated or organised prizes for the fundraiser. It was a wonderful effort by all. A big thank you goes to the Team Managers of each age group, who put in a lot of effort to organise the parents from their teams for prizes and for team tables. Also, thanks to the various helpers who helped organise the event on the night itself.
The money raised from the Trivia Night, together with Rego Fees, Canteen/BBQ sales at home games, and Club Sponsorship, helps provide all the various facilities for our footy teams.
Next year, we should aim to involve even more people on the Trivia Night to support and build this great junior footy club.
And can any other age group knock off the winning table of Under 15/16s parents next year? The Club elders were looking very satisfied with themselves on the night .......

Sponsor ship puzzle solved
The club would like to thank Monkey Puzzle Toys (Andrew & Pamela) for becoming our first major sponsor for 2009 and continuing for 2010. We encourage all our members to support the local businesses that are supporting our football club. As
the club grows, sponsorships such as this are going to be vital in
ensuring we can provide facilities and training equipment for all our
teams. If there any other businesses that might be interested, please
contact a committee member.
